Where: Portland, ME
When: January 2014
Living in Portland, one of my favorite activities in the winter is to get up early and explore the docks with a hot cup of coffee. Typically, the wharfs are bustling with activity. Fisherman hollering from one boat to another, gathering their traps and readying their crew for a long day ahead. It's a wonderful scene, it shows that Portland is still a seafaring town. Show up on a Sunday morning though, and the wharf is entirely different. This morning was particularly peaceful. The water was slack calm and the boats all tied up tight for a much needed day of rest. Despite temperatures in the single digits, it was a beautiful morning. I have yet to find a problem that a little sun and salt air couldn't cure!
